Ron Garl and Guan Tianlang at Longboat Key Club

March 5, 2014

Guan Tianlang, the 14-year-old phenom from China, who was the youngest player ever to make the cut at the Masters or any men’s major championship, played golf with Ron Garl, Golf Course Designer, at Longboat Key Club’s 27 Hole HarboursideGolf Course, which Ron Garl has renovated over the last several years.

By adding sand dunes and sandy waste bunkers golfers are enjoying the different variety of shot making strategies which they are now afforded. The renovation also gave the course an “island feel” which it did not previously have.

Longboat Key Club is located on the Gulf of Mexico on Longboat Key, Florida.

Guan qualified for the Masters by winning the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship in Thailand. He started playing golf at 4 years old.
